📺 Ditch Summit Day 3: Student voice + MirrorTalk
New sessions with Stevie Frank and Brian Lamb from Swivl
It’s Day 3 of the Ditch Summit! (Didn’t get your Day 2 email? View it here.)
♻️ Day 2 recap
Artificial intelligence (AI) is a hot topic in schools and education right now. Holly Clark’s session about student AI literacies helped us prepare students for their future.
“It is the world our students will inherit.” This quote really hit me. It doesn’t matter where teachers stand, admin stand on AI. We need to prepare student for what is coming even if we don’t see it as valuable or necessary.
Yesterday’s new Brisk Teaching session shared lots of practical ways to give students feedback — and create teaching materials — more efficiently.

🤔 What to do during the Ditch Summit: Talk to MirrorTalk (win prizes!)
When someone asks you questions about what you’ve learned, the way you answer can strengthen your learning.
That’s reflection. And that’s what MirrorTalk is all about.
They’ve set up a special Ditch Summit reflection space for us:
It asks you about a Ditch Summit session you’ve watched
You reflect on your experience and what you learned
MirrorTalk asks you follow-up questions
It summarizes your learning and provides a detailed report
I reflected on the first two Ditch Summit featured sessions in MirrorTalk, and you can see my whole experience step-by-step here.
Ready to try it yourself?
🎁 BONUS: The first 100 educators to reflect will receive a FREE MirrorTalk poster about student thinking. (See the posters here.)
Want to use MirrorTalk with your students? Get it for free here.

📺 FEATURED SPEAKER 📺
Amplifying Student Voice: Podcasts, Identity, and Choice with Stevie Frank
Stevie Frank knew she wanted to help her fifth grade students understand who they were — and who they wanted to become.
She wanted to help them find their voice — their identity.
That started a years-long journey of incorporating student voice in the teaching and learning in her classroom. That included:
recording student podcasts
bringing a variety of books into the classroom
gathering student input on how projects were graded
In this session, Stevie shares lots of observations and practical ideas right out of her classroom.
She also shares her thoughts on the importance of student voice, including:
“You can’t speak to student voice until you first understand student identity.”
🔎 SPOTLIGHT SPONSOR 🔎
Reflection, Critical Thinking, and AI with MirrorTalk
Earlier, you read about the MirrorTalk reflections we have available in the Ditch Summit.
Now, you can learn more about what powers them — MirrorTalk.
MirrorTalk (mirrortalk.ai) encourages students to talk about what they’re working on — what they’re learning, what they’re writing, what they’re creating.
Then, it asks them questions to get them reflecting on their learning.
Finally, it summarizes all of it and provides the student and teacher with a report analyzing their responses for further growth.
It really helps teachers bring a powerful and underutilized practice — reflection — into the classroom with little to no prep work ahead of time.
In this session, Brian Lamb of Swivl talks about how MirrorTalk works and how it supports student learning.
