📺 Ditch Summit Day 2: Student AI literacies + Brisk
New sessions with Holly Clark and Arman Jaffer from Brisk Teaching
It’s Day 2 of the Ditch Summit! (Didn’t get your Day 1 email? View it here.)
♻️ Day 1 recap
Our summit started with a 💥 BANG 💥 … and judging by your social media posts, you LOVED Trevor MacKenzie’s session on inquiry and questions.

It was nice to be reminded that not every lesson has to be over the top and that sticky notes or something similar can really amp up the learning and fun. The session has challenged me to try some new routines.
Also, hundreds of you flocked to the Figma session to learn about FigJam, the FREE online whiteboard tool for very fun, very visual learning.

🤔 What to do during the Ditch Summit: Our sticky note board
Have you checked out the sticky note board yet?
Under each video presentation, there’s a button that says “Discuss This Session in FigJam.” Click it and you’ll find the sticky note board.
There’s a board for each Ditch Summit featured speaker (and a catch-all for other sessions).
But it’s not JUST a sticky note board! You can record voice comments at the bottom — and snap a selfie for the selfie wall!
It’s kind of like social media for people who don’t do social media — or want a different place to collaborate about the summit!

How to ACE Student AI Literacy in Schools with Holly Clark
Artificial intelligence (AI) continues to grow at a staggering pace.
It leaves many of us wondering: What will the world be like for today’s students — the workforce, our personal lives, and more?
They’ll need a dexterity, a fluency when it comes to AI.
The term for that is AI literacy. And it’s been something both Holly Clark and I have been thinking about a lot. (And discussing on our podcast.)
If you want to help today’s students prepare for tomorrow’s world, there are some small, simple steps you can take.
In today’s session, we’re simplifying AI literacy for students into a three-part framework: ACE (Awareness, Critique, Exploration).
You’ll know what you can do in your own classroom to help prepare students for tomorrow — and you don’t need a degree in computer science to do it.

Meaningful, Efficient Student Feedback with Brisk Teaching
Lots of us have tinkered with AI assistants like ChatGPT — even to do teacher tasks like lesson planning.
But if you use ChatGPT, you likely have to do a lot of copy/pasting.
What if the power of an AI assistant was already waiting for you in the tools and spaces you use every day?
Meet Brisk Teaching (briskteaching.com). It runs in Google Docs, Google Slides, YouTube, and on articles and websites — even in student work.
Click on Brisk’s circle “B” button to add feedback to student work, create a rubric, make some presentation slides, and more.
Learn how Brisk works — and why teachers are loving it — in this session.
Watch any Ditch Summit session from previous years on the Ditch Summit Video Library page any time.
