🗑 20+ ISTE sessions: video, slides, and more

Get everything from my conference presentations in one place

🎙️ The wild June conference season

June has always been a busy month for professional development.

(Which is kind of a shame, because if you finish teaching in May, you’d probably like to spend June relaxing and disconnecting … and yet, demand still remains.)

It was a whirlwind for me with six events all over the United States leading up to the ISTE + ASCD Conference last week in San Antonio, Texas.

Right now, I’m trying to rest, relax, and disconnect before the back-to-school frenzy starts.

(Sorry, I know that saying “BTS” at the beginning of July is blasphemy!)

I’m also excited to share alllllllllll of the resources I shared in my ISTE presentations — more than 20 in total! (Including the Figma for Edu session I did in an astronaut costume!)

Even if you didn’t get to go to the conference, I can still give you everything possible that I presented and shared in San Antonio.

PLUS …

It’s not too late to join the Teacher AI Literacy Level 1 online course for 50% off! We have 500+ educators from around the world and they’re already connecting and sharing in the discussion boards (and you can join them).

The 50% off discount ends on FRIDAY.

🚨 LAST CALL: 50% off Teacher AI Literacy Level 1

The Teacher AI Literacy Level 1 certification course is LIVE.

  • I just dropped 11 videos (more than an hour total) in my Cheating and Academic Integrity module — including a participant workbook and additional ebook.

  • More than 500 people from around the world have joined and started sharing comments in the discussion boards.

The good news? You haven’t missed a thing.

Everything is asynchronous — on-demand, on your own time — so you can watch and rewatch whenever you want.

And you get to learn alongside other educators by interacting with them in the discussion boards. Here’s a comment that just came in about the lesson on my “AI cheating spectrum” graphic …

This list is exactly why I signed up for this course. […] I am only at the beginning of my journey here, but I am excited to reflect on this list and use it to help me construct a new curriculum.

💻 TECH TIP 💻

🧑🏾‍💻 Google’s huge AI upgrades to Classroom

Google just announced some serious upgrades to Google Classroom at the ISTE Conference with AI tools that can save you time.

The new Gemini tab is rolling out now and gives educators access to more than 30 AI-powered helpers. You can generate lesson plans, quizzes, rubrics, and more—then send them straight into your class with a click. It’s free for all teachers 18+ using Google Workspace for Education.

Two big updates for students:

NotebookLM will soon be available to students! It will turn your uploaded class materials into interactive study guides and even audio overviews. Students will be able to use these to review, quiz themselves, and get clarification—based on what you upload and control.

Gems are coming to students soon, too. Teachers can create custom AI bots using classroom content that act like study partners, quiz builders, or conversation starters. These bots can be assigned directly to students for independent practice and support. All teacher-led, student-safe, and admin-controlled.

We’re planning to unpack all of these updates for you in detail next week. For now, check out the Google blog for their announcement.

💡 THE BIG IDEA 💡

🎙️ Slides and videos from my 20+ ISTE sessions

The ISTE Conference has been one of the biggest edtech events in the world for years and years now.

This year, it was even bigger! ISTE and ASCD had a co-located conference (a weird way of saying that they combined … but they still wanted to retain the names to both conferences).

It was fantastic. There were so many sessions. The expo hall was packed. And there were lots of fun events — as well as educators from around the world.

I had four official ISTE presentations and 18 presentations in vendor booths in the expo hall. I’ve never had a busier ISTE!

The good news: I brought home lots of resources for you.

Below is a resource dump — an ORGANIZED resource dump! — with everything in one quick and easy place.

NOTE: Capturing video of sessions at a conference is a challenge! I used a lapel mic for my phone and set up a tripod, but sometimes the framing was a little off (see: WeWillWrite video) … sometimes I ran out of storage on my phone (see: Beyond ChatGPT) … sometimes the audio wasn’t pristine (see: several of them). And sometimes my video didn’t record — or I forgot to hit record! I did my best. Please be kind and I hope it’s helpful!

My 4 official ISTE presentations

  • 1️⃣ Tomorrow Glasses: How to Prepare Students for an Unknown AI Future Today (virtual session)

  • 2️⃣ How I Used (and Didn't Use) AI in My Classroom

  • 3️⃣ Beyond ChatGPT: Navigating AI-Generated Images, Video and More (with Dee Lanier)

  • 4️⃣ Like TPT for Free: Free Pre-Made Digital Teaching Resources

Expo hall sessions in vendor booths

These quick sessions are a great way to get to know new tools (or find new features in tools you already use). They’re usually 10-15 minutes long and super practical.
