How teachers use AI to teach
For the last year, many of us have started to see the potential that AI can have in a teacher’s practice.
We’ve tried writing lesson plans with AI assistants like ChatGPT.
We’ve learned about lots of AI-driven tools that can support learning.
We may have even created some AI-generated images.
Sometimes, we just need examples and ideas of what’s working with others.
In today’s email newsletter, you’ll find plenty of those examples — including the full video from a panel discussion on AI I participated in recently.
PS: I’m hosting a webinar on Wednesday. It’s free, and I highly recommend that you register!
PS #2: The Ditch Summit is almost here! Share it to win prizes. Details below!

🖥 Webinar: AI: Your Interactive Display's Hidden Classroom Superpower
This message is sponsored by Samsung.
If you have an interactive display, I’ll bet your big question is this:
How do I make the most of it? How do I maximize this interactive technology to best support my students?
Using artificial intelligence tools with it can be part of the answer.
Samsung is hosting me for a FREE webinar on Wednesday called: “AI: Your Interactive Display’s Hidden Classroom Superpower.”
In it, we’ll outline several activities and teaching strategies you can use to make the most of your interactive display with AI.
I’m inviting you to be our guest! Here are the details:
Wednesday, December 6 (2pm U.S. EDT / 1pm CDT / noon MDT / 11am PDT)
FREE 1-hour certificate of completion for PD credit
Recording available afterward to those who registered
FYI: Samsung has several upcoming free webinars on topics like web tools, digital citizenship, Google Tips, and more. Use the “Select all upcoming webinars” option or choose other topics you’re interested in, too.

📺 VIDEO: AI in Education: Examples, Ethics and Implications
This message is sponsored by Samsung.
How do we make the most of AI in the classroom?
What ethical implications must we be aware of?
How is it already being used to improve student learning?
Three educators — including myself — weighed in on these topics in a recent panel discussion. Good news: We captured video of the whole thing!
It was part of my ongoing partnership with Samsung and another collaboration with their amazing PD team! FYI: They’re the ones running this series of webinars about teaching with tech.

The panel consisted of me; Rachel Swanson, Samsung Education Coach; and Austin Fleischer, former third grade teacher from Business Network Team. It was moderated by Samsung Education Coach Dee Lanier.

There’s a good chance you’re already using this strategy.
With the advent of AI assistants like ChatGPT, we can now better align any topic or content to our essential standards.
In this guest post, Jake Boll shares some practices we can use — and three tools that support them — to spiral essential standards.
