📺 Ditch Summit: Focus on teacher wellness and balance

Sessions by Dan Tricarico, Crystal Chavez, and more!

We’re on the doorstep of a new calendar year.

If your school schedule is like my family’s schedule, you still have this week to rest, reflect, and recharge for a new semester.

Thankfully, there’s still time to see all of your must-watch Ditch Summit video presentations.

The summit is open for four weeks of the year. Everyone’s schedule is a bit different, but the goal is to have it open during …

  • the last week of the fall semester

  • two weeks of winter break

  • the first week of spring semester

Remember, when the summit closes on Sunday, Jan. 11, it’s closed — done until December 2026. All videos, certificates, notes, and resources will become unavailable after it’s closed.

Below are some cool digital activities to try in Book Creator and Kami — plus our Category Collection on teacher wellness, balance, and mindset.

But don’t forget about this year’s new featured sessions and spotlight sponsor sessions either!

🔎 SPOTLIGHT SPONSOR 🔎

Try the 2 Minute Drill and Social Media Post Activity in Book Creator + Kami

Visual. Interactive. Collaborative. Creative.

When you use Book Creator and Kami, they can level up a classroom activity by themselves …

… but if you use them together, they can create extraordinary results.

Farmer Faubs, a Book Creator ambassador, shared an app smash — where you use two different apps in the same activity. (She lives on a farm so she calls an app smash an “egg smash.”)

In this Spotlight Sponsor Session, you’ll learn how to put on a 2 Minute Drill in Kami and to create a Social Media Post activity in Book Creator.

Whether you use just one or the other — or decide to use both — you’ll unlock some new tech superpowers.

🎁 BONUS: You can get three months of Book Creator premium for free! Just use code DitchSummit at checkout. (Code expires Jan. 11, 2026.)

2 Minute Drill

This activity can help students familiarize themselves with a new chapter in a textbook. Just scan the textbook in Kami and share the file with students. Then, start a 2 Minute Drill activity with them:

  • 2 minutes: Scan and make inferences (What is this chapter going to be about?)

  • 2 minutes: Use the Summarize tool to summarize sections of the text

  • 2 minutes: Use the Explain tool to explain a map or chart

  • Students join the document in Kami collaboratively

Migration Social Media Post activity

If students love the idea of becoming a content creator, this activity will get them writing in a format — a social media post — that some of them will be familiar with.

  • Students create images of themselves migrating into the Americas using the embedded Adobe Express AI image generator

  • They write a short social media post about what they would experience in their migration.

  • Students can leave a voice note or a video note, too.

If this sounds like something your students would love, check out this Spotlight Sponsor Session on Kami and Book Creator, two tools that are both now owned by the same company — Kami.

📺 CATEGORY COLLECTIONS 📺

🧘 Watch these videos on teacher wellness, balance, and mindset

If you’re on break right now (which so many Ditch Summit participants are right now), hopefully you’re resting and recharging.

Teacher wellness is such an important concept in our schools right now.

As they say: “You can’t fill up other people’s cups if your cup is empty.”

In our Category Collection on teacher wellness, balance, and mindset, educators share tips and strategies to manage the stresses and challenges of working in schools.

Here’s what’s in the collection …

Teacher Wellness: From Disengaged to Fulfilled (with Mandy Froelich) — In this session, Mandy Froehlich shares concrete next steps if you’ve become disengaged as an educator.

Simple Steps for a More Well Self (with Crystal Chavez) — In this session, teacher Crystal Chavez shares some quick actions you can take to improve your own wellness.

Self Care for Stressed Teachers (with Dan Tricarico) — In this session, “The Zen Teacher” Dan Tricarico shares how he de-escalates stress in his own classroom through strategies like stillness, silence, and solitude.
