📺 Ditch Summit Day 8: Student engagement ideas
New session with A.J. Juliani -- and all videos are now available!

It’s Day 8 of the Ditch Summit! (View all previous summit emails here.)
So … we finally made it. As of today, all new Ditch Summit sessions are available!
You can choose from 8 new featured speaker sessions, 6 new spotlight sponsor sessions, and nearly 100 previous Ditch Summit sessions. (See the whole list at the bottom of this email.)
What happens next? Well, it’s time to take a break from Ditch Summit emails. (You’ve been receiving them almost every day for eight days! And, to be honest, I need a break from writing them!)
Starting Monday, I’ll email you every few days with suggestions of videos to watch and summit reminders.
The summit ends on Fri., Jan. 11, when all summit resources (videos, certificates, etc.) will become unavailable.
♻️ Day 7 recap
In their session, Tony Vincent and Greg Bagby showed us how they’re using AI tools like ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and Playlab to create educational apps and games — without needing any coding expertise. It’s called “vibe coding” and anyone can do it. Now, all you have to do is imagine what an app or game would look like and you can ask an AI model to create it for you.
Yesterday’s new session with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital shared how students in schools across the United States are putting on fundraisers like Math-a-Thon and the EPIC STEM Challenge. They raise money to support the hospital and children with childhood cancer. But it also helps them strengthen their academic skills.

27 Practical Principles to Engage Students in Class with A.J. Juliani
It seems like it’s harder than ever to engage students in learning … to capture their attention and inspire them to keep learning.
Thankfully, we have some ideas and suggestions from leaders and achievers throughout history that can guide us.
Quoting from his new book, The 27 Principles of Engagement, A.J. Juliani shares stories of folks like Serena Williams, Pat Summit, Benjamin Franklin, and others that can guide our work in the classroom.
Plus, you can get the audiobook version for free here!
