Day 3: AI in EDU today & tomorrow / Samsung

As of today, we have available for you on our video library page:

  • 3 new featured speaker sessions

  • 3 new spotlight sponsor sessions

  • 88 (!) previous Ditch Summit sessions

By the end of next week, all of our new sessions (8 featured speaker and 9 spotlight sponsor) will be available. That’s 88 + 8 + 9 = 105.

Wow, 105! We’ve never been over 100 before.

Overwhelming? Hopefully not!

It lets you be picky about what you watch. Think of it as “there’s something for everyone.”

Speaking of “something for everyone” …

Ditch Summit participants like YOU were sharing what they had found and loved on the #DitchSummit hashtag. And there was a lot!

Y'ALL. @andredaughty brought it in today's #DitchSummit video! From PBL to student-centered teaching, this session is full of ways to engage students and teachers in learning together!

🔥🔥🔥 Is an Understatement! Andre Daughty is INSPIRING! Let's not forget about the AMAZING ways to use Adobe Express in the classroom!! My new favorite quote is, ‘If you observe students, they will teach you how to teach them.’ Dr. Jawanza Kunjufu

Remember: If you want a certificate of completion for a session, get it now! Use the “Generate PD Certificate” button on the speaker page. When the summit closes, you won’t be able to generate them anymore.

📺 New session: AI in the Classroom: Today, Tomorrow, and Beyond with Matt Miller

There’s been a lot of talk recently about new AI tools and how they can save us time in the classroom.

This is my own Ditch Summit AI session, and I wanted to make the most of it!

So I covered some of that — practical ways to use AI save time and level up teaching and learning.

📙 In my book AI for Educators, I share LOTS of practical AI ideas — plus real talk about cheating and plagiarism and more. 📙

But in this two-part session, I also predicted the future a bit.

I’ve been reading a LOT about where AI is headed. And it’s making me think about where education is headed in response.

I put on my Tomorrow Glasses and tried to paint a picture of the future of education. (I reserve the right to have all of my predictions be wrong!)

I also shared a few ways we can prepare our classrooms and our students for that coming future — things we can do right now.

PS: Not enough time to watch? Check out the blue button that says “View Notes and Resources” — and check out the sketchnotes recap at the bottom of the session page!

PS #2: Don’t miss the contest! Click that button below the video: “Win a Ditch That Textbook Swag Pack”!

💡 Spotlight sponsor session: Accessibility with Tech for Equitable Outcomes with Samsung Education

Accessibility means breaking down barriers to learning for all of our learners.

So … what does that look like in a classroom?

In this VERY practical session, the PD team at Samsung Education shares tech and teaching tips for accessibility.

They include:

  • Chromebook accessibility features built in to the device (just waiting for you to use them)

  • Accessibility features in interactive displays in the front of the room

  • How to create equitable learning pathways for all students with tech

BONUS: If you like this session, Samsung Education offers FREE virtual professional development that anyone can sign up for.

You’ll be glad you watched this session!
