Day 2: Great student projects / Adobe

We are off and running with Day 2 of the Ditch Summit!

Yesterday, CJ Reynolds kicked us off with inspiring words about building student relationships. Plus, Tisha Poncio from Wakelet shared about student portfolios.

Hereā€™s what you had to say on the #DitchSummit hashtag on Twitter/X:

  • ā€œThe reason I love #DitchSummit is because even when I have an exceptionally challenging day like I ironically had today @jmattmiller #CJReynolds and @TxTechChick bring the energy to make me try again tomorrow #thistooshallpassā€ ā€” Dr. Maggie Espinola (@MaggieMoriarty7)

  • ā€œIt's the most wonderful time of the year! The #DitchSummit has started, and I'm excited to have some productive use of my planning period.ā€ ā€” Dustin Rimmey (@RimmeyAPGov)

Remember, as soon as itā€™s released, every session is available until Jan. 5. Thereā€™s no rush to watch ā€” and no such thing as being ā€œbehindā€ on videos!

Inside:

  • šŸ“ŗ New session: Student Engagement, Projects, and Classroom Culture with Andre Daughty

  • šŸ’” Spotlight sponsor session: Level Up Classroom Creativity with Adobe Express

šŸ“ŗ New session: Student Engagement, Projects, and Classroom Culture with Andre Daughty

ā€œIf you observe students, they will teach you how to teach them.ā€

Andre Daughty heard these words from Dr. Jawanza Kunjufu and they changed the way he viewed teaching immediately.

  • He started seeing his curriculum through his studentsā€™ eyes.

  • He added relevant projects to make learning come to life.

  • He let outside experts share their expertise to inspire.

His goal wasnā€™t to make it fun all the time. Sometimes, learning isnā€™t fun, Andre says ā€¦ but on some days, it definitely is.

In this session, Andre shares stories and ideas to engage students, to build on their strengths, and to build connections to their interests.

PS: Not enough time to watch? Check out the blue button that says ā€œWakelet collectionā€ to read the highlights of the session!

šŸ’” Spotlight sponsor session: Level Up Classroom Creativity with Adobe Express

What can you do with Adobe Express? Just about anything!

Students can use it to create graphics, videos, animated audio, and more to showcase what theyā€™ve learned ā€” and do it CREATIVELY.

Oh, did I mention ā€¦ Adobe Express is FREE for K-12 educators and students???

In this video, Adobeā€™s Wezi Thindwa shows off some of the more impressive features of the new all-in-one editor in Adobe Express.

(PS: If you havenā€™t seen Animate From Audio, itā€™s incredible ā€¦ and so quick and easy to use!)
