A new way for students to show learning

A student solving a math problem in Snorkl.

I’m pretty blown away by Snorkl.

I found out about them at a teacher conference. When I got a demo of what it’s capable of? WOW.

Students can draw on a canvas (blank or with templates you provide). They record themselves explaining their process or what they know.

Then Snorkl takes ALLLLLL of it and provides feedback — AND gauges their mastery of content.

All on its own.

In today’s 💡 Big Idea, you’ll meet Snorkl (snorkl.app) — and see how it can be plugged into learning in your classroom right away.

(Or you can just check out the post: 10 ways to provide instant feedback to students with Snorkl.)

🤿 NEW TOOL: Meet Snorkl, visual learning + instant feedback

This message is sponsored by Snorkl.

If you haven’t heard of Snorkl (snorkl.app) yet, it’s pretty incredible …

  • Students get a problem to solve / question to answer.

  • The teacher can include a visual, a graphic organizer, a chart, a map … something visual for the student to mark up.

  • The student clicks “record” and starts drawing, writing — even talking.

  • Snorkl takes the verbal commentary — and analyzes annotations by the student — and provides instant feedback.

🤯🤯🤯

Math teachers are LOVING Snorkl (feels like math gets left to the side with edtech products sometimes) …

… but it’s not just for math.

  • Social studies students can annotate maps.

  • Science students can work with diagrams of cells and atoms.

  • English students can submit graphic organizers for feedback.

  • P.E. students can submit a diagram of a strategy/play for soccer.

  • World language students can get oral language practice.

… and the list goes on and on and on.

10 ways to provide instant feedback to students with Snorkl

Snorkl has a great free plan with a limited number of activities (but you can always delete your old activities to stay within those limitations).

The premium plan for schools and districts adds unlimited activities, an admin dashboard, Snorkl Coach — an AI coach to help students before they submit a response — and more.

Get to know this new tool that has me excited about its instant feedback AND its multimodal ways for students to show what they’ve learned!

🎯 QUICK TEACHING STRATEGY 🎯

⛔️ Teach students the dangers of deepfakes

I created a deepfake of myself in 5 seconds with Deepfake Sandbox.

Deepfakes are becoming easier and easier to create.

Using artificial intelligence, people can create incriminating or objectionable images and videos of others in compromising situations — situations that can ruin or harm lives.

CivAI has created the Deepfake Sandbox, a place that demonstrates how quickly and easily a deepfake can be made.

It includes educational articles about why deepfakes matter, how quickly AI is moving, and what the game plan is.
